Lee admitted as Composition Fellow for the 2017 Aspen Music Festival
News | December 29, 2016Lee will be attending the summer music festival where he will study with esteemed composers Chris Theofanidis and Stephen Hartke. The festival has commissioned Lee to write a string quartet to be premiered at the festival, alongside a short orchestral work to be read by the Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra and a fanfare for brass quintet.
Lee featured in Junior Bach Article
News | December 1, 2016Lee was featured in the article as a teacher in the Junior Bach program. The program involves giving composition lessons to middle-school students from St. Ignatius Loyola Academy in midtown Baltimore. Bottom Heavy chosen in Verdant Vibes Call for Scores
News | September 1, 2016Providence-based new music ensemble Verdant Vibes has chosen to perform Bottom Heavy from its Call for Scores twice in its upcoming season. The first performance will take place in Boston on April 22, and the second in Providence on April 23.
Hurry Up and Wait premiered at the Walden School Creative Musician’s Retreat
News | June 23, 2016Lee’s most recent chamber piece, Hurry Up and Wait, was performed at the retreat in Dublin, NH by two members of the MIVOS Quartet, Lauren Cauley and Mariel Roberts, alongside pianist Steve Beck and clarinetist Carlos Cordeiro. Lee participated in the weeklong retreat where he had lessons with Michael Daugherty, D.J. Sparr, and Caroline Mallonée, attended conducting workshops and pedagogy seminars, and performed as part of the chamber choir.
North Carolina Symphony Reads Vicious Circles
News | March 22, 2016Lee’s newest orchestral work, Vicious Circles was read and recorded by the North Carolina Symphony, conducted by Music Director Grant Llewellyn, alongside a new piece by Yahn Wagner. The reading was the capstone of a fruitful collaboration between the Duke Department of Music and the Symphony.
ShoutHouse Performs Bottom Heavy
